Importing Private Deck from Google Drive?

Importing Private Deck from Google Drive?

Postby abishur » Thu Aug 21, 2025 3:02 pm

I have a google sheet shared on my google drive, that I am currently using to sync to my flashcard deluxe app. Is there a way to give the link to that google sheet to someone else so they can get my flashcards? I tried adding a deck, selecting private deck, and entering the share url in the deck code, but it gives me a deck filled with things like html { overflow: visible; } so I'm pretty sure I'm messing up somewhere

Hi,

I'm really sorry for the slow reply.

If they have Google Drive also, they can put your shared copy into their own "Flashcards Deluxe" folder. They would first log in within Flashcards Deluxe, which will create that folder, then they can move your deck into their folder. I *think* that would work, but I remember years ago there was an issue with this, but I think I fixed it.

I don't think you can share a URL link.

If it's just a one time transfer, another option is for you to export your deck to "App Server" as a "Private Deck". Give it a deck code (not a URL) and then tell your friend the deck code. I'll delete decks off this temp storage area after about one month.

Ah, I was hoping that since a google drive could be used as a sync location for your own drive that it could also be directly shared.

Is there a way to just give someone a link to an excel/sheet/whatever file type on another file server option like dropbox, one drive, github, etc that they could put into the private share link? Having to copy stuff to your own drive to then be able to access is sadly a step to complicated for many a person  . I need it more permanent than a short time share, but it's not so widely accessed to setup a public long term share either.
