Replacing audio files

Replacing audio files

Postby lang.svv » Tue Jun 17, 2025 1:04 am

Hi. I have a problem with replacing an MP3 audio file to one flashcard. I uploaded an audio file to pronounce a word in a flashcard, but later I found a better quality audio and want to replace the audio file attached to the flashcard, so I deleted the original audio files from FCD's server using FCD's website, and I also deleted the flashcard deck in the app. Then I uploaded the spreadsheet with the same code and also the new MP3 file using FCD's website (the MP3 file name doesn't change, so the new file use the same file name). Then I redownloaded the flashcards deck to my app, but in the app that flashcard still plays the old MP3 file. I don't understand why the old audio file was kept, since it should have been deleted in the server and also in the app. Could you please advise how could I overwrite and replace the MP3 file? Thank you!

Hi,

For a solution, can you change the file name?

Did you run "download/update" from within the app? I'm assuming so.

When you delete a sound file from within the app, it might not delete the file on the device right away (because another card could potentially be using). I think it will delete the file after running "download/update" though if still not in use.

And when you use the website, it doesn't know you changed the file on the website, so the app will notice that you already have the file on your device and won't check the server/website.

If you use Dropbox, OneDrive, GoogleDrive, the app should notice that you changed the file and update it as expected.

So when using my website to transfer files, I think the easiest solution to use a new file name. Sorry for the trouble.

I tried one more time of the same deleting, uploading, and redownloading process after half a day, and this time it somehow worked magically, and finally the flashcard is now reading the updated audio file (I didn't change the file name though). Anyway, thank you for your reply. !!
