How to change application from Android to iOS

Hi everybody,

I used to use the flashcard application on Android and I just changed to a new iOS device. How can I convert flashcards to iOS? Thank you!

Hi Drew,

I'm so sorry for the very slow response.

A couple ways to transfer:

1) Full backup and restore, using Dropbox or OneDrive. To backup, tap Edit at top-right of Decks screen, then tap “Backup/Restore” at bottom. This will backup the database (holds all data, except media) to Dropbox or OneDrive. Include media if appropriate. To restore, use the same “Backup/Restore” button.

2) You can export individual decks. To export, swipe left on a deck, tap “Edit”, then Export/Share. You have a variety of places to export to. I recommend OneDrive, Dropbox, or GoogleDrive if you use any of these. Each deck will be exported as individual Excel or text files (depending on your setting). Turn on option to Export statistics and media as appropriate. You can export multiple decks at once in most cases. If exporting to “App Server”, you can only export one deck at a time, using a deck code. If exporting by email, you cannot export media. To add back, you use the “+” button at the top-right of the Decks screen. Again, a variety of options to import from. If you exported by email, one option is to open up Excel/Text file on device and you should be able to “Send to” Flashcards Deluxe to install.

If you still need help, let me know.

Thank you Ernie for making a great app!

I don't use Dropbox or OneDrive. And in your last message you mentioned Google Drive, which I DO use.

However, I don't see the option to use Google Drive when I attempt to backup.

To clarify, these are the steps I follow:
- To backup, tap Edit at top-right of Decks screen, then tap “Backup/Restore” at bottom. This will backup the database (holds all data, except media) to Dropbox or OneDrive.

I only see the options to choose Dropbox or OneDrive.

P.S. I have updated to the latest version of Flashcards Deluxe on Android.

Thanks for your help

Hi waltex,

The Backup/Restore does not work with Google Drive. But you can still export/backup, just differently.

In the Decks screen, swipe left on a deck, Edit, Export/Share, Google Drive. Turn on "Export Media Files" (if appropriate) and turn on Export Statistics. If you export statistics, they will be included in the spreadsheet file.

Tap "Select Decks to Export" and turn on all decks you want to export.

Backup/Restore will export a single database with all the app data (media files separate). When exporting individual decks, some settings won't be exported, such a global options and deck order and combination decks. But the important stuff will be backed up / exported.

Thank you so much Ernie,

I've tried that out successfully.

Another benefit of backing up in this way, is that it keeps most of the Sound settings, including the Text to Speech (TTS) settings, number of times the speech is repeated ...

I used to spend a lot of time re-doing the sound every time I added a slide or corrected a slide in the Google Sheets spreadsheet, and then re=downloading that spreadsheet again from Google Drive.

But now I can just export it with the method you've given us, and then all of the Sound settings are at the top of the spreadsheet in Google Drive. I can now simply just add slides or correct the slides on this exported spreadsheet to keep the Sound settings!

Thanks very much, Erine! You've saved us a lot of time!! :D :D :D
