Auto play feature

Auto play feature

This is more of a question to the other users of the app.. Well anyone who uses the app really. Although I use the spaced repetition option to study I also make a lot of use of the feature to just auto play and listen to the audio have some music going in the background. I haven't put a lot of effort into this really I just pick a deck and set it to random and put it in my pocket and then go. I'd like to increase the effectiveness of this a bit though. Putting a whole deck in and hitting random I've got it repeating cards not too often. This weekend I'm going to configure it a bit more to cycle through 20 cards at a time or something for a bit and then go onto more. This is for new cards I'm learning to up the exposure so they'll become active learned cards in my vocabulary more quickly. I use an "audio" combination deck for this.. It goes 5 sides. It will play the target word in Japanese on side 1 and then side 2 again and then on side 3 it plays the English and then side 4 and 5 I have it play the Japanese word again. Just wondering if anyone else does anything similar and any tips they might have.

I'm not sure if there's enough users browsing this forum to get a response.

Did you know that you can repeat a sound clip, say 3 times, for a side. Just FYI in case it helps, as I was wondering why you used side 1 and 2 for the same sound clip (or at least sounds like you did).

Maybe the tricky part is filtering the cards to focus on the "important" ones. Maybe using the streak filter in cards to study is good to practice cards that are not well known. As for new cards, practicing your 20 "new" cards in the normal new card mode as a slideshow seems good. If you are ready for more cards, not sure what best approach is... do you turn off slideshow, answer them a bit so that new "new" cards show up, then turn on slideshow again? Or use the "cards to study" screen somehow to filter?

To date I mostly just put it on random and let it go. Less effort and all. But I did try a little to before to do better than that. I used the streak option to try to get cards that I was bad at and then let it autoplay on those... I also tried just like you said about letting it autoplay for 20 cards for a while and then I answered them to get the next round to show up. What I found worked best was to flag problem cards and get like 40ish and then just listen to those. But I ended up thinking it was too much effort and went back to just pressing random. Part of that is the whole syncing with my ipad and ipod.. it's a bit annoying. But it might be worth it.

I was thinking that since I add cards to my combo deck in groups of about 100 then I might not have to sync them per se since then newer decks will naturally be harder and I can just listen to them instead. Would be easy if syncing is a pain. Yeah I know that you can set it to repeat an audio clip 2x or 3x instead of the regular once... But then it will repeat the English several times too and I really don't want that.

Just wanted to say that I love how the autoplay let's me mix music with the audio. It works really well. It does a really good job of reducing the background music so I can hear the card audio too. It's really good for working out since well you really need the music heh.

Please help me understand how to make a deck autoplay through 20 cards.

I can get a deck to autoplay the audio a card when I see the card.

But I don't know how to get a deck to automatically cycle through all the cards in the deck.

kraemder said that they can get a deck "to cycle through 20 cards at a time".

It would be great if I could get a deck to read the text, and then go to the next card.

I'm OK if we have to set a certain amount of time for each card (eg 15 seconds). This means that some cards with short sentences would require me to wait a few seconds with silence, while other cards with long sentences wouldn't require me to wait.

Thanks for your help !! :D

Hi. To start a "slideshow", you first need to get into browse mode. To do that, tap the "B" at the bottom-left of the screen. To exit browse mode, tap the bottom-center button, then "Exit Browse Mode" from the menu.

In browse mode, the "B" changes to a play button. Tap to start slideshow.

The app by default will wait at least 3 seconds (or until the sound stops playing) to flip or change cards. You have some settings to change this. Go to Deck Options > Timers / Sideshow. You can set "Delay" here. Because you likely will have sounds of different lengths, you can also use the settings in "Delay After Sound". Here you can delay say 3 seconds after a sound finished playing before it moves on. You can also change the number of times a sound is repeated in settings.

The slideshow will generally loop through all the cards in the deck (when card order is ordered or random). If you want to limit cards to study, go to Deck Options > Cards to Study.
