Version 2.9 issue.

Version 2.9 issue.

Postby Ehsan » Mon Aug 01, 2011 3:16 am

Yesterday I upgraded to this new version then I'm facing a problem.
Every time I hold my finger on screen to see my cards full screen Flashcards Deluxe quits. So I can't study at all.

I'm using iPhone 3GS, Version 3.1.3

Please help me as soon as you can. I really need it.
Thanks.

Hi. I don't really understand when it quits. You tap a deck to enter study mode. Then you tap a card to flip and swipe left to go to next card. Does this work. If you just tap and don't hold your finger down, does it work better? You mention full-screen, but if you don't try to go full screen does it work? You tap near the top to toggle full-screen on/off, so not sure what holding does like you mentioned.

Anyway, you might want to reinstall the app. I've never heard of your problem, so it might just be a bad install. If you do try this, make sure you backup your decks within the app (if need be) so you can restore them. Let me know if you need help with this. You can backup by tapping "Edit", a deck, entering a deck code if you haven't already, Export, then export to "App Server". After re-installing, to app the deck back, tap +, Private Deck, then enter your deck code(s). If you reinstall, you won't get charged again because you already bought the app.

Oh, another thing you can try first before deleting the app is to just remove the app and restarting it to see if that fixes it. To remove apps from memory, close the app, double-click your home button, look for the apps along the bottom, hold one down to make them shake, then tap the red minus sign for the app to remove it from memory.

I removed the app and restarted it but it doesn't fix the problem. As you said I removed apps from memory by double-click the home button, hold one down to make it shake, then tap the ‘x’ sign for the app to remove it from memory.

For just make it more clear what is my problem:
When a card has too much text to fit on the screen you will see a small green arrow at the bottom, when I touch and hold my finger on the screen Fashcards Deluxe quits and I come back to home. It's like I push my home button.

Thanks for being more clear on when it crashes. I haven't heard of this before, so I'm not sure what might be going on.

If you don't mind sharing, consider exporting the deck or the entire database so that I can try it out on my end so see if I can reproduce the crash on the same card. If you export the deck, you can export by email and email me the text file (et@orangeorapple.com), or assign a deck code, export it to the "App Server" and then post your deck code so I can download it. Tell me which card is causing the crash.

Another question I'd have is... does it happen on every card with the green arrow (too much text) or just one particular one. I haven't been able to get the app to crash on my end.

Alright,
I sent my backup file of Dropbox to your E-mail

Yes, it happens on every card with the green arrow (too much text).

I think the updated version has clash with the version of my iPhone, because of some reason I don't want my iPhone to be updated. With previous version I had no problem.

I'm looking forward for your response.
Thanks for your support.

Thanks. I can duplicate the crash with 3.1.3.
Give me a couple days and I'll let you know what I think as far as 1) a possible work-around and 2) time-frame for a fix.

I updated my program to fix the crash. An update should be available for download in about 10 days. Until then, you'll just need to avoid holding down the screen to view the extra text. A work around is to change the "Control" setting to "Easy Scroll", which will allow you to scroll without holding down the screen, but the downside is that swipe up/down for strong-correct/wrong no longer works... you'd need to tap top/bottom to signal these instead.

(This issue only affect iOS 3.1.3 and prior users.)

Thanks for letting me know,
