Is there a way to “just type”?

Is there a way to “just type”?

Hi.
first of all, thank you so much for this wonderful app. With this app, I was able to nail HSK 6 and JLPT N1. I‘m confident that it was not possible without this app.

I‘m currently studying LSAT as an ESL student, so I‘m using this now for English Vocabulary.

From the beginning, I have been using ‘drawing’ feature. however, writing everything down is more work than what i actually need now, because there’s no Kanji in English. so i wanted to change to “typing” mode and realized that there‘s no such thing. (Also, drawing mode gives me serious back pain)

i know that there is “spelling” feature, but i this is not what i need.

since I have so many words in my set, a lot of them have multiple meanings, and similar meanings to other words, what i need is below;
1. i don‘t want it to check my answer. i want to swipe manually without automatic correction because as long as I can come up with an answer that has similar nuance, I mark it as correct. So i want to avoid “objective & rigorous” correction
2. i want it to show more than one text in one side, because in text 3~5, there are examples of the usage of the words, number of the meanings, and word class. (as i know, spelling mode is only for two sided)

in summary, all i need is a feature that is just like “drawing” feature, the only different thing is that now I can type where I used to draw. Does this make sense?? I hope it does..

if it is not too much work to update this feature, i hope it comes out asap because my exam day is only 50 days left and my back pain is literally killing me .. lol

thank you again for all the work you devoted to this app. Personally, I think you deserve a Nobel prize. All my success in language proficiency tests are the result of your talent and endeavor.

"I think you deserve a Nobel prize."
Haha, you are too kind.

I'm very happy to hear the app has helped you so much! Thank you.

I think you can use the spelling mode...
Type the answer and hit enter. The app will then compare with the "answer".
If you get correct, there are two options:
1) you go right to the next card, or
2) if you want to view Side 3+, you can change Spelling option "Show Detail After" to "On".

If you get wrong, the app will show the correct answer.
- If you swipe left while keyboard is still up, the app will mark your answer correct (overriding the "wrong" of your typed answer)
- If you long-press the question (at any time), you'll switch to view Side 3.
Two comments here:
1) After you long-press, your typing goes away. You ideally might want it to stay. But you can compare your typing with the answer before you long-press
2) If you get it wrong, long-press to view Side 3+, then swipe left, the app will mark *wrong*. I don't like this behavior. The app should mark it correct I think. I can fix this. For the time being, if it does mark wrong, you can always just swipe back and swipe forward to change answer to correct.
Let me know how the above works for you as a solution to how you want the app to work.

- At this point, you can long-press the question to view Side 3+. Your typing has gone away at this point, so I think this is the only thing you might be missing.
- If you swipe left at any time (if keyboard is still up, or if you've switched to "regular" view of Side 3+), the app will m

thanks for your reply.

i’m sorry but the solution wouldn’t work for me (though im confident it will be really helpful to many people) for the reasons below.
1. I need to see T3~T5 before I type down my answer, not after. for example, there are multiple meanings in the word “render”. before typing the answer, i need text 3 to inform me the number of meanings I should come up with.

2. in “drawing“ if we turn it on the both sides, what I wrote down doesn‘t disappear even if I flipped the card. also, we can put multiple texts in one side, so it’s possible to learn more about the word with example sentences, how many meaning it has, what class of words is it in, and so on.

I think the best & simplest way to capture my request is .. “please make the tweaked version ‘drawing’, EVERYTHING stays the same, but now you can type where you used to draw” A simple TEXT BOX. That’s all i need, if that‘s not too much of a burden. i don‘t need fancy “correction” feature or anything!

thank you. lmk when you get nominated lol

You can include T3-T5 as part of the question. Use Card Layout to define which text items to shown on "Side 1". You can also change the relative size of each part. But with the keyboard shown, you are a bit limited in the amount of space available.

Yes, the typed answer will disappear.

I won't be programming this in the near future, but it is something I have some interest in later, so let me see how it goes.
