text-formatting

text-formatting

Postby Jaylee » Wed Sep 29, 2021 2:34 am

Hi Ernie,

It would be great if the text-formatting (bold, italic) could be supported “without” typing HTML tags. Instead, I hope that I can use edit options/menus, such as Bold, Italic when I touch and hold an element in a text field.)

OR It would also be nice if HTML tags could be generated when the kind of tag button is clicked, such as the text editor in this forum.

Best,

!!

I totally agree. It's just it's not that easy for me to implement, but I want to eventually.

Some people have asked to support "markdown", where for example you can bold with asterisks: **this will be bold**

Having a "normal" text editor would be great, which is what I'd like to add eventually.

One option you might consider is to use Excel to enter your text, as you can format there. Then transfer using Dropbox or OneDrive. Your text will be converted to html.

I create a card like this:

<center><color red>test</color></center>
<color blue>item 1</color>
<color blue>item 2</color>

and it shows normally but with lots of blank lines each other

so can these blank lines be removed?

ctmdoctor,

If you have new lines in your text/html, the app will keep these new lines when displaying on flashcard. It sounds like you will want to remove the new lines in your text. <center> for example will put text on its own line. Because you have a new-line after </center>, the app will add another linefeed.

"and i want to ask how to manage the location of inserted image on card?"

I don't know what you are asking. If you want to add images to your cards, you can
1) enter the picture file names into your text/spreadsheet document. You then put the pictures in the correct location so the app can find them when you import from cloud. Where you put them depends on how you are transferring
2) add the picture from within the app

After installing deck, pictures are stored on device. Are you asking about where they are stored? If you have Android, they will generally be stored in internal memory, but you might be able to store on external memory by going to Global Options > Other > Store Media on External Storage. You might have to manually copy existing media from old to new location in this case.

that's not what I mean

maybe I should describe the question more clearly

how to control the position of image on card?

here is a card for example:

title
item1
item2 image
item3 audio
.....

so can I change the displayed position of image and audio on my card?

Pictures by default go at the bottom of all text. You can change it so pictures are shown at the top of the card:
Global Options > View > Picture Above Text > On

The sound play button is fairly fixed, near the bottom of the screen. You can control if the button is more towards left, right, or in middle:
Global Options > Control > Advanced > Play Button Location

If you want more control of picture positioning, you can put the picture name in the "Text _" column, as HTML:

Some text
<img src="example.jpg" width=400
Some text

There's no way to add an existing mp3 file of yours to a flashcard from within the app. The only way I support this is by importing your flashcards from an online source (Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive, my website). You would create a column titled "Sound 1" or "Sound 2" (etc) and in this column put the file name of the sound file. You would then need to put the sound files in the appropriate location online and then download into the app. The app will combine the text and the media files on download.
