Need to save Gdocs password for 2-step verification accounts

Need to save Gdocs password for 2-step verification accounts

Postby arthaey » Mon Feb 14, 2011 6:53 pm

I use 2-step verification for my Google account, which means that I log in with application-specific passwords rather one general purpose password. See here for more details: http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answ ... er=1173270

The generated application-specific password is only shown once, when I create it. I cannot view it again. So I need the Flashcards Deluxe app to save my password (locally). Otherwise, I have to delete the old application-specific password, create a new one, paste it into the app, and resync to Google Docs every time I want to sync to my account. :(

Please at least add the option to save passwords.

Hi Arthaey,

Ok, thanks for the info. I'll look into the two-step process you mentioned. I got something out quick on this, but not quite full featured. As for saving passwords, this adds a little extra complication (since I have to encrypt the password to be safe), but I'll get it added. It will probably be a couple months.

Will support for this be included in the next release, or is it further out than that?

Is all you need is for the app to remember your password? My development version does this, and I assume it will make it into the next version, but I don't want to say 100% because using encryption causes complications with submitting apps.

Yes, saving the password should be enough.

Any progress on saving Google Docs passwords? This still blocks me from being able to use your cool Google Docs import/export feature.

The last update (a month ago or so) had this feature. In the Google Docs area, tap the settings icon and you should see a "Save Password" option. Let me know if you don't.
