utf-8 format

Ernie,

Hi, I have a problem downloading my flashcards from Dropbox. I usually upload them to Dropbox as tab delimited txt files before downloading to the app. This usually works flawlessly, but today I'm an error message saying that "The text file could not be read. Did you save it in the UTF-8 format?"

I haven't done anything differently. Do you have any ideas?

Did you explicity save your text file as UTF8 format? Do you know what this is? You don't have to do this if you use basic "Latin" text (A, B), but if you use special characters (symbols, different languages) then this might be required.

If it's the exact same text file that worked before, then I'm stumped, but I'm guessing you updated since your last successful download?

If you want me to take a look at the text file, attach it or email it to me.

Ernie,

Actually, I got it! I opened the txt file and used "save as" to reconvert it into UTF-8 encoding. I'm not sure why excel had exported it as ANSI, but it works now. Thanks for your help, Ernie!
