Excluded cards

Firstly, thank you for this awesome app.

I've been searching what excluded cards are, but I haven't found it. What are they? Are those that have reached the target interval so the app considers that I don't need to study it anymore?

How can I see which words from my deck are excluded? I used its filter, but they don't appear (although option "Cards to study/Show/Excluded" is set to "All"

Hi. Are you using "short term goal" card order? Cards will be auto-excluded when they reach the target streak.

Go to Deck Options > Short Term Goal Settings > Target Streak. This is your target.
The next setting is "Remove after reach goal". You can change this to "no" if you want.

For cards that are "auto-excluded" because of they reached target, to see them you can do the following:
1) turn "remove after reach goal" to no
2) Deck Options > Cards to Study and change "Streak" to >=6 (6=your target)

If you want to repeatedly do this check, you don't want to have to keeping moving these two settings back and force, in which case you can create a "combination deck" to create the desired filter without changing your study deck.

I'm using 60 days as Target interval, but in Spaced repetition mode. Does your answer also work for this mode? Excluded are those that have reached the target interval?

Why can't I see them when I search Filter / Status /Exclude?

The auto-exclude after reaching target only applies to short-term-goal.

if you go to Deck Options > Cards to Study, does everything say "All" (including categories if you are using them) ?

If not, filtering could be happening at any one of these items, in which case the study screen will show "excluded" status for any filtering that was done, not just for a card's include/exclude status.

If they all say "All" and you are stilling getting excluded cards, let me know. As of now, I'm not sure why that would happen.

Yes, I've double-checked my status: Deck Options / Cards to Study / Excluded /All

and there are 119 excluded cards that don't appear when doing: Filter / Cards to Study

but neither appear when doing: Filter / Status / Excluded



Other info:

My deck has 1.991 words
1908 are active
119 are excluded

So I guess I'm misunderstanding something

In Cards to Study screen, there are other options besides "Excluded". For example, "Streak" and categories (if you are using). Are all these other settings set to "All"? I'm trying to get confirmation that ALL settings in that screen say "All", not just the "Excluded" row.

Yes, I dind't mention it, but all categories in this screen are set to All

I really don't know. Are you able to share your deck with me? If so, export to perhaps email (including statistics!) and email me. Or you can export to "App Server" (again, with statistics) and tell me the deck code. If you aren't comfortable sharing, let me know.

I've just updated my deck and now I don't have any excluded word.

I think the point is that those words with streak>3 were excluded. Although I changed streak to All, this change hasn't had effect until I've updated my deck. Is it reasonable?

I don't understand why the app waited until after you updated to "fix" itself. So, it sounds strange. But I'm glad it seems to be working now.

Once you've manually excluded cards how do you retrieve them?

Hi Alison,

I'm sorry for the slow response.

When studying, to include the cards that have been excluded, tap the gear icon at top-right corner of study screen to go to Deck Options, then tap Cards To Study. Notice "Excluded". Change to "All".

If you want to see which cards are excluded, go to card listing screen (to get there, tap bottom-right button in study screen), then tap Filter, Status, Exclude. If you want to change the status of any of these, tap Mode, Multiselect, tap which cards you want to change to non-excluded status (or use Range button, or select all in Mode menu), tap Mode, Set Status, Active
