Directly Importing Google Spreadsheets into FCD

Here is a technique I use sometimes to put a sheet from Google Spreadsheets directly into FCD.

IN GENERAL

1) Make a spreadsheet with your data
2) Publish it to the web using TXT (plain text)
3) Copy the link and email it to yourself
4) Open your email on your iPhone.
5) Copy the link you sent yourself
6) Open FCD
7) Add a Deck by pasting the link into the private deck code.

DETAILS
In Google Spreadsheet:
1) Make your sheet in Google Spreadsheets (or import, etc.)
2) When in the spreadsheet, go to Share at the top right
3) Go go “Publish as a webpage”
4) Under “Get a link to published data”, select “TXT (plain text)”
5) Copy the link that is provided and email it to yourself.

In FCD
1) Go to FCD
2) Decks >> + (press the plus to add a deck) >> Private Deck >> DeckCode >> Paste (the link) >> Download Cards >

Notes:
1) I see no way using folders right like dropbox with a public folder so that you just have to remember the folder.
2) I have noticed sometimes that with dropbox and Google that sometimes you have to change https:// to http to get it to work.
3) Your document can be accessed by anyone with the link. However, the code is very convoluted so if this link is not published to the internet, I do not believe it will be “crawled” by search engines. But this is at your own risk.
If you do not want a strange deck name, you can put at the top of the sheet the following the following

- Column 1 = *
- Column 2 = name
- Column 3 = WhateverNameYouWantForYourDeck

So in the end, the line would be
* name WhateverNameYouWantForYourDeck

Just noticed this threat, thanks for the tip!

However, the line breaks don't work as well as copying and pasting from excel, so I must use the "|" symbol for line break instead of a line break itself... just throwing the caveat out in case anyone wants to use this as their main method of importing
