Requirement: Please support html cards

Requirement: Please support html cards

Postby Gucci Koo » Thu Nov 01, 2012 8:34 am

Now I use flashcards on iPad
It has a large screen and good for reading
It's a friendly presentation device for complicated and well formatted content
Could you support cards which is written in HTML
It will have great style support, even video, javascript, vector graph and latex.
I just worry about swipe/tap control will conflict with the HTML card
But for me, it's ok if the HTML card not support click and scroll.

And last, you creat the best flashcards app on touch device and totally defined what a flashcards app should be!!

Regards,
Gucci

Hi Gucci,

The text currently supports html. The flashcard view is actually a web view. Give it a try.

You mentioned a few things: video, javascript, vector graph and latex.
I'm not sure how much of these are supported. Hmm, I'll try a video test tomorrow. I'm curious if that could work. The next update will allow importing of .svg (vector) files. I don't know about latex. I'll look at that tomorrow also.

mp4 video, javascript, svg vector graph works
latex not, but i guess it may work with the javascript library which could convert latex to svg

if i download the deck from quizlet, it will download the images
if i add it manually in deluxe, it won't
but it's fine, basically, no one use the app like this.

Your google url example worked fine for me. You might want to try changing https to http to see if that works for you.
If you want, export your deck to the "App Server" and tell me your deck code and I can try it my self.

"img" files will get downloaded and stored on the device so you don't need internet connection after download. If you get videos working, they won't get downloaded locally. I don't have any near-term plans to add better support for videos. I don't know how to support LaTeX, and don't have any plans for this since I assume it's not an easy solution.

Hey Ernie,

including latex is ridiculously easy if the flashcards are html files / web files. Mathjax does the job and you won't even need more ressources if you use their can. It's one line of code as a javascript include + 1-15 lines for the specific configuration. I

We will be able to use latex by including $$ latex_formula $$ as easy as that.

If you decide to implement that, I will buy the app in a second. I guess there are millions of college students who would love to be able to include latex formulas into their flashcards!

Thanks, Jan
