format Text Header Column to cover 2 columns under it

format Text Header Column to cover 2 columns under it

Postby estedman » Sat Sep 03, 2011 2:20 pm

I am studying French verb conjugation. I would like for sides 3-5 to contain 2 columns on each card. If I use Excel and merge 2 columns into 1 header column- see "Text 3" and "Text 4" below- will it upload properly? This is the layout I am trying to achieve. It is a large project and I would like to make sure I format if properly to start.
I have used "|" to indicate the columns. The dashes are just so you can see the spacing. You can see Text 3 and Text 4 are merged across 2 columns.
Text 1|Text 2|---------Text 3----------|--------------Text 4-----------------|
Aller--|--Go---|Present---|-------------|Participe passe|--------------------|
-------|--------|Je vais----|nous allons|je suis alle---|nous sommes alles|
-------|--------|Tu vas----|vous allez |tu es alle-----|vous etes alles-----|
------|--------|il va-------|ils vont-----|il est alle-----|ils sont alles--------|

Another possiblility is to use 2 text boxes within one Excel column.
Or maybe some type of table.
This has probably been covered before, but I have been unable to locate it in the forums, etc.
Thanks

Columns are not supported in this app. This is something I might try to add in the future.

I don't think what you are trying to do will work. Instead of trying to get fancy and create columns, my recommendation is to just put a dash between your two columns. I know it won't line up, but it will keeps things simple.

For example, I think on side 3 you'd want (but using my dashes instead of columns)

Present
Je vais - nous allons
vous allez - tu es alle
ils vont - il est alle

All this above would need to go into a single cell in Excel, for example cell C2. It seems like you have these on different rows in your example, but each row will create a new card.
