Combination deck showing cards have been excluded

Combination deck showing cards have been excluded

Postby Arthur » Wed Oct 01, 2025 3:24 am

Hi Ernie, Hope you are well. I have set up three decks for learning German - writing, sentences and verbs. I have not excluded cards and no cards show as excluded in the 3 decks. However, the combination deck shows there are cards excluded. None show up when I use the filter to find them. All the decks are spaced repetition and all show study all cards in the cards to study option. If this is a presentation problem, I'm not too bothered, but if it could affect the longer-term SRS I would be concerned. It would be good to not have the top deck showing cards as excluded, so your thoughts would be welcome? Kind regards, Arthur

Hi Arthur,

I'm not sure. By default, a combination deck will have its own settings, with its own "cards to study" logic. Open "cards to study" in the combination deck. Make sure everything is set to "All" and see if anything changes.

Another test is then to go to the card listing. How any cards are shown? Tap "Filter" at bottom then "Cards to Study". Did the count change? If the count still shows all cards and you are getting "Excluded" cards shown in the Spaced Repetition summary, I'm stumped.

Hi Arthur,
as you learn different types, I am asking whether you use different status?

Could you please check in the original decks which status you use and also in the combideck.
If you still not see the reason for exclude, you can export all three decks to excel. There is a column for each statistic.
The first number in each statistic value will be greater 2 for excluding.

@Ernie,
While investigating I see excluded started with 4 in statistic 1 but with 3 for excluded in the other statistics.

Hi Katja,

I think the status is like:

0: pending
1: new
2: active
3: pending + excluded
4: new + excluded
5: active + excluded

Originally only 3 = excluded , but at some point, I split out into 3 excluded possibilities.
