That has nothing to do with this app, but is a "feature" of the OS.

To turn it off go into Settings -> General -> Keyboard and set ". Shortcut" to Off.

When I am filling out a card with just words, the entry mode automatically adds a period when I put in a bit of space before the next word and I have to back up and delete it, in order to get things to look like I want them.
Can this "feature" be turned off ?
