I recently returned to FCD after a lag of several years...this is my first post, and I joined the forum over 11 years ago! :-)
I have used it to study: Geography, Biblical languages, World Leaders, French, Burmese, Cocktail recipes, and memorize classroom rosters! I'm always thinking of ways to make something new into a flashcard.

I have used it years ago to learn German and I just returned to it to learn Farsil !! Works beautifully, and actually, the fact that you can have more than two sides to a card is fantastically useful to learn Farsil.

I have just started using this app.
I am an avid flashcard user (old school: hand written on cards) which I used to learn Italian.
I am now getting to grips with it to learn Turkish (just for fun) - although I would prefer an easier input method (i.e. a webpage like quizlet), it seems like a great way to learn digitally (and save some paper)

Japanese. I spend huge amounts of time setting up and using multi-sided cards with FCD!!

Risking thread drift. . . I just stumbled on a method for capturing images, sound and subtitles from Netflix Japanese language shows. Involves ShareX and a couple of Chrome extensions: Yomichan and Language Learning with Netflix. Will post to a new or different thread. . .

Hi Katya I remember reading how you use this app to learn or improve square dancing and thinking that seemed like a really unusual application for flash cards. I only use it for foreign languages so far. I’ve learned Japanese to a B2 level (JLPT N2) successfully with the app. I occasionally use it to cram other information but Japanese and the Kanji were the big achievement that I’m proud of thanks to this app. About a year ago I started learning Korean. I’m using the app extensively for that and as before I keep experimenting with my flash cards trying to improve them. It’s pretty amazing that I’ve been using this app for over ten years and the developer has consistently supported it. Most of my other apps that I liked were popular and supported for a couple years but then fell by the wayside. Flash cards deluxe justified my getting an iPod touch back in the day and it’s up there with YouTube and Google news for most used apps for me.

To study languages - English at the moment, whenever I come across a term I don't know, I'll add it to the deck.
Have used it in the past for other languages (greek, hebrew but also html, css, java script :D )
For spoken Languages I like the TTS option, so you can read and listen. I've also used spelling and multiple choice options in the past.
Thanks for this great app. 8-)

I use FCF for language learning and it's very helpful so far. My English is good enough now so I just started to learn Chinese. Thank you so much for the very useful app 😊

I'm utilizing FCD to learn French, Spanish and Dutch. I've been fixated on learning dialects for quite a long time and still can't seem to arrive at an abnormal state of familiarity with these dialects and am presently more decided than any other time in recent memory. In my assurance, I'm utilizing all better than ever not too bad strategies to help my advancement. In this manner, FCD has turned into my new closest companion.

Rainer wrote:I tried to provide Overhead transparencies for my (chemistry) students using this way. The idea behind was simple. Every second student comes with an iPhone.
But to make the story short: I failed. 2.99 € was too much. To be honest, I was deeply disappointed. The mentioned amount of money is nearly nothing in comparison to the iPhone itself or even in comparison to one single cup of coffee during the lecture breaks.

To avoid any misunderstanding: the App is far from being too expensive. It's rather too cheap!!

Sad state of affairs when we can buy our kids iPhones (or give them our hand-me-downs so we can buy ourselves the newest version!) but won’t pony up for an educational app. On the flip-side; could it be a communications thing? Kids want apps all the time and many parents disable their childrens’ ability to buy them because they get out of control. Maybe it’s not that the parents won’t support educational enhancements, but it’s the fact that the kids went home and said “I’ve got to buy an app for school...” and they didn’t quite believe their children?

Anywho - I use this app (initially) for rote memorization of testable topics. Hopefully I’ll also leverage it for more fun and interesting stuff (languages) later on.

Learning to fly! There are round about 1000 multiple choice questions to prepare for the exam. The official training portal lacks speed, flexibility and offline capability. Well done, Ernie!!

I've used FCD for years for Square Dance definitions. I used to dance C4, and it was very helpful to keep all those definitions in my head!

Hi there,

I´m working with FCD since three months now and I have to say that I really, really like! I use it for portugese vocabulary and the app really pushes me every day! You really get nervous once the learning mode reminds you of new work to finish.
Really welldone, absolutely stable and fun to work with. Especially the synch function allows me to use different devices with the same data sets.

I use this app to help train my translation skills since, you know, the more you remember of a language and its translation, the better your translation skills will be.

I've been using flashcard app to practice for almost 4 years, but I just discovered this love app a few days ago. Before that I've used anymemo for a very long time. I really love the spaced repetition mode 'cause I've had a lot of bilingual text to memorize, and I have to memorize it as deeply as I can so as to freely switch between the two languages, and spaced repetition really helps me.

I've decided to transfer all the previous bilingual texts from other apps to FCD, including a whole bunch of bilingual subtitles for TV Shows, movies, and documentaries.

Really having great fun with it now!

Hi,

I am studying an Engineering qualification in welding fabrication to support my artistic practice.
The reason FCD is so important to me is that it is a distance learning program, so most of the study time is spent by myself.
The course then runs practical weeks where all the practical is done in one go, but it may be some time since the relevant theory work has been completed.
I am a kinaesthetic learner - I can't read and remember things, unless i get to put them into practice at the same time.
The only way i can get round this is by repetitive flashcard use, which works.

I much prefer using FCD than other softwares, even though i use others to create the flashcards (Cram, then Quizlet when Cram stopped interfacing). I honestly can't remember why - it's been over 3 years since i started now!
