I don't know of another work around. The easiest way to do this is probably to assign a deck code to each deck (tap Edit, then then deck, then fill in the deck code), then export to my server. You can then restore by adding a private deck using the same deck code. Make sure you know how to do this before deleting the app.
A new version of the app is coming out today. I suppose it's possible that you won't have this error with the new version, but to be safe, you should definately backup your decks before updating in the event you need to reinstall. I don't understand the reason why a few people have this problem (temp media error), so it's better to be safe than sorry.
