If you are using my website to upload pictures, then you don't need to worry about it. The upload process will shrink to a max of 600x600 by default. (You can increase this setting on the pic upload page if you want.)
If you don't use my website to upload pictures, then that max size is a pretty good compromise between small size, decent detail, and quick performance in the app. If you use an iPad and have large pictures, you'll probably want to increase this to maybe 800x800.
